![]() The American Federation of Teachers' partnership to bring high-quality books to DC students is at it again. And once again, they need help. In November, the AFT and WTU Local 6 -- along with partners including First Book and DCPS -- distributed more than 40,000 books to educators, school staff, librarians, families and community programs to help ensure that all DC students have access to books. "Now we are preparing to bring 120,000 books directly to DC Public Schools for school, classroom and home libraries so all students have access to a wide variety of books to help them succeed and thrive in school," says the AFT's Leslie K. Getzinger. Volunteers are needed for next Wednesday January 13 at the DCPS warehouse; shifts are from 8am – 12pm and from 12pm – 4pm. Volunteers will help organize books and prepare orders for delivery to schools. Click here to register. For more info contact Getzinger at 202-393-7990 or at [email protected] Comments are closed.
