![]() “Put it in writing!” chanted striking West Virginia teachers Tuesday morning after Gov. Jim Justice announced a deal that would give all state workers, including teachers, a 5 percent pay raise. The State House unanimously passed the bill before noon, the State Senate followed soon after and the governor then signed the bill, finally ending the teachers’ 9-day strike. “Today, right beat might in the truest tradition of Mother Jones,” said AFT President Randi Weingarten. “The strike and its strong outcome should be seen as a shot across the bow to every lawmaker who may underestimate the support teachers have,” added AFT-West Virginia President Christine Campbell. photo courtesy AFTWV Twitter Comments are closed.
