METRO COUNCIL ENDORSES
DC CITY COUNCIL
CANDIDATES
The Metropolitan
Washington Council AFL-CIO has endorsed Jack
Evans (D-Ward 2), Muriel Bowser (D-Ward 4),
Yvette Alexander (D-Ward 7), and Marion Barry
(D-Ward 8) in the Democratic DC City Council
primary. Action on the Democratic At-Large race
will be taken up at a later date. The Metro
Council has also endorsed Carol Schwartz
(R-At-Large) in the Republican primary.
Endorsements in the general election will be
considered following the primaries. "These
leaders, recommended by our COPE Committee,
have proven their commitment to worker's
issues," said Metro Council President Jos
Williams. "The Council and our affiliates will
work to get the union vote out in the upcoming
primaries," added Metro Council COPE
Coordinator Rick Powell. For more information
