Area Musicians & Musical Artists in Tune with Solidarity
Wednesday, January 11, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Leaders of the Metro Council, Musicians Local
161-710 and the American Guild of Musical
Artists met with members of Local 161-710
Monday night to discuss local solidarity.
“It's important to recognize the
interrelationships of all of area labor groups
in building a mutually supportive network,”
said Local 161-710 President Ed Malaga. Metro
Council President Jos Williams agreed, noting
that local labor support for campaigns by both
unions in struggles with the Washington Ballet
in recent years helped build local solidarity
and win gains for dancers and musicians there.
Plans are in the works for more work together
this year by the Musicians, AGMA and the
Council. -
