UFCW 400's McNutt Hails Pension Fund's Walmart Divestment
Wednesday, January 25, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Hailing the decision by Dutch
pension fund ABP to divest itself of Walmart "a
giant step," UFCW Local 400 President Tom
McNutt (at left) said on
January 13 that “in an era when global
capital has amassed greater power over every
sphere of our lives than ever before, it is
absolutely critical that workers maximize our
economic clout.” Along with workers around
the world, the pensions of Local 400 members
are held by ABP. “Local 400 members and
retail food workers around the globe owe a debt
of gratitude to ABP for its wise and
far-sighted decision to divest from Walmart,
and we urge other pension funds to follow
suit” added McNutt. Click here for
