Thursday, June 7, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)When it comes to politics, retired coal miner
Sebert Pertee sees one big problem: the rich
keep getting richer while working people lose
ground. Pertee is the subject of Divide, a short
documentary by Michael T. Miller and Maura
Ugarte that will be shown
tonight at Busboys & Poets (14th &
V location). Winner of the Best Short Doc award
at the recent Workers
Unite Film Festival in New York City, the
film follows Perteeās attempts to confront
race and class struggles in the mountains of
West Virginia. The screening will be followed
by a panel moderated by author Tom Zaniello and
including Sue Thorn, a subject in the film and
US Congressional candidate from West
Virginia. -
