'Labor Night at the Nats' a Home Run for CSA
Friday, August 10, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With 5,000 tickets sold, last Friday’s Labor
Night at the Nats netted nearly $5,000 for the
Community Services Agency’s Emergency
Assistance Fund. “Thank you so much to NOVA
Labor Federation and the Metro Council for
co-sponsoring this great event and to the many
locals who bought over 50 tickets and got their
names on the scoreboard” says CSA Executive
Director Kathleen McKirchy. “It’s thanks to
all of you that the 40,000 people at the game
know that unions are alive and well in the DC
metro area.” AFL-CIO Building and
Construction Trades Department President Sean
McGarvey was quick to remind those following
the game on Twitter that “Nats stadium [was]
built under a PLA [Project Labor Agreement] on
budget and AHEAD
of
schedule!” Unite Here Local 23 members showed
that it continues to be a union stadium as they
donned union buttons to show their solidarity
for the annual labor night. Click
