Wednesday, September 26, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Former Local 689 Secretary-Treasurer and recent
ATU International Vice President Rodney
Richmond’s retirement was celebrated in high
style Saturday, September 22 as ATU members
from across the country came dressed for an
elegant evening in Richmond’s honor. Richmond
(pictured center with Local 689 President
Jackie Jeter at right) started his transit
career as a bus operator for D.C. Transit, the
predecessor to WMATA, and also served as a
delegate to the Metro Washington Council in the
1970’s. "You could always count on Rodney to
'go the extra mile'" said Metro Council
President Jos Williams. "He was all about
standing up for working families." - photo
