Tonight -- Free Screening Commemorates Guthrie's 100's Birthday

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)A free
screening of Hard Travelin’, the story of
Woody Guthrie told through those who knew him,
will be held tonight at Busboys & Poets
(5th St location). The film, “a reminder of
just how good a songwriter Woody Guthrie was”
(Jon Pareles, The New York Times) will
celebrate the 100th anniversary of Woody
Guthrie’s birth and kick off the DC
Labor FilmFest, which runs through October
18. A “warmhearted memorial to the folk
singer whose songs galvanized organizers and
guitar-pickers across the United States,” the
screening of Hard Travelin’ is co-presented
by the Busboys & Poets Bread & Roses
Labor Series, the DC Employment Justice Center,
and the DC Labor FilmFest.
