(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)AFSCME Local 2477 celebrated its’ 40th
anniversary of representing workers at the
Library of Congress on Tuesday, September
25 with a luncheon, historical slide show and
musical performances. Metro Washington Council
President Jos Williams – who founded the
local in 1972 – keynoted the event, and
Librarian of Congress James H. Billington
attended, along with former Local 2477
President Saundra Smith and other current and
past union leaders whose dedication, solidarity
and hard work were recognized. - photo
