Thursday, November 1, 2012
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With Hurricane Sandy shutting down polling
places Monday and Tuesday, early voting has
been extended in Maryland and Virginia. In
Maryland early voting will be open today and
tomorrow from 8a to 9p. In Virginia, early (aka
“absentee”) voting hours have also been
extended; click
here for details in Fairfax County
(information on other NoVA locations will be
posted on
our website as it becomes available). Metro
Council President Jos Williams urged area
activists to vote early, saying “you can
avoid possible conflicts like sickness or
transportation issues by voting now, and use
the time after you cast your ballot to help at
local labor-to-labor walks and phone banks.”

labor phone banks and precinct walks (note:
the AFL-CIO will be providing rides to the Richmond
labor walks on Monday and Tuesday, email Fazcarat@aflcio.org

seat). The Metro Council’s handy Labor
Voter Guide is now available, listing
candidates and ballot initiatives endorsed by
local labor in DC, Maryland, and Northern
Virginia. The easy-to-use guide can be found on
