(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Ten people were injured Tuesday after they were
attacked by a mob of men wielding knives,
sticks and rocks at the Tunisian Labor
Federation (Union Générale Tunisienne du
Travail UGTT) in the capital, Tunis. This is
the third such attack in five months.
Meanwhile, Burmese trade union leader Maung
Maung and several Burmese business leaders met
recently in Washington, D.C., with investors
and representatives of multinationals. The
meeting, facilitated by the AFL-CIO and the
Solidarity Center, set the stage for shaping
corporate responsibility and implementing best
practices as the country opens its doors to
