Area Unions Brighten Children's Holidays
Friday, January 4, 2013
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Thousands of dollars’ worth of toys and
financial contributions helped make the
holidays brighter for many area children this
season, thanks to donations from SAG-AFTRA’s
Washington-Mid Atlantic Local. The local joined
the AFL-CIO and its Building and Construction
Trades Department and Helmets to Hardhats in
donating toys and money to the U.S. Marine
Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. “Our
hats go off to the local SAG-AFTRA members and
IBEW members alike at WUSA 9” says the local,
whose shop steward, Bruce Leshan, delivered
their contributions to the local office. The
local thanked their allies and supporters in
the Toys for Tots campaign for helping
“[give] the gift of joy and cheer to many
local children this holiday season." -
