Indian Workers March on Embassy

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Chanting "Inquilab,
zindabad" ("long live revolution"), 70 Indian
workers and their supporters marched into the
Indian Embassy Thursday afternoon to demand the
Indian government hold high-level talks with US
officials to stop the abuses of the guest
worker program and take legal action against
Signal International. The workers - who arrived
after a weeklong trek from New Orleans --
packed into the atrium of the Indian Embassy
and told Indian Ambassador Ronen Sen their
stories of exploitation at the hands of Signal
International (Indian

3/27/08 UC) . Sen promised that his doors would
always be open to the workers, who will hold a
rally on Monday outside the White House.
