MontCo Council Rejects Reduction in Pay Raises for Workers: The Montgomery County Council rejected a proposal Wednesday to reduce negotiated pay raises for thousands of County workers, reported the Ann E. Marimow in Thursday’s Washington Post. In a repeat of a hearing last week (Labor Updates (5/14/08) UC), hundreds of union members packed the meeting to hear the vote. The vote will allow an eight percent raise – negotiated between unions and the County during the last round of contract talks – to go forward.
