Child Care Providers Honored:
Nearly 200 Prince George's County residents --
including family child care providers and the
kids they care for, along with their parents
-- came out earlier this month for a day of fun
and recognition for Maryland family child care.

The workers who clean up Oriole Park at Camden
Yards-home of the Baltimore Orioles-voted last

healthcare workers graduated last week from the
Greater Baltimore Medical Center's (GBMC)
second skills class, marking the first year of
the Training and Upgrading Fund at the

Contract for American Rights at Work
Unit: Workers at
the advocacy group
American Rights at Work ratified a new contract
July 23 calling for raises totaling more than
18 percent over three years. The workers are
members of the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper

Unit Wins Three-Year Contract:
Workers at Casa de Maryland - members of the
Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild – won a
new contract that increases wages by more than
13 percent and that for the first time helps
pay for health insurance for dependents. The
contract includes 4 percent across-the-board
increases in each year of the three-year
