(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
The artistic talents of SEIU 32BJ members and staff are on display in DC through today at the Breaking Through art exhibition. The exhibit, entitled Breaking Through, includes over 30 pieces of original paintings, drawings, photography, and poetry by more than twenty Local 32BJ members, officers and staff of the union. “With this art exhibit we want to speak to the world and invite them see us beyond our work uniforms,” says Lina McDonald-Berrios, a Local 32BJ member whose paintings are included in the exhibition. “We want to engage people and take away our labels.” The exhibit – sponsored by Local 32BJ as part of its Artistic and Cultural Team program – is open to the general public and will be up through the end of today at the SEIU International offices (1800 Massachusetts Ave NW).
