DC Jobs with Justice: Cross-Cultural Dialogue Series Begins Saturday
Thursday, August 7, 2008
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
The first in a series of dialogues on race,
immigration and building cross-cultural
alliances in DC will take place this Saturday
from 1-3P."The goal of this event is to arm
workers and residents with
concrete tools that will help them come
together and win concrete victories," said
Daniel del Pielago, tenant organizer for the
Latino Economic Development Corporation.
"People of all races and nationalities are
losing their homes, being pushed out by
gentrification and struggling to preserve their
housing." The series – a collaborative
education project between members of the Fair
Budget Coalition and DC Jobs with Justice –
will provide a safe forum for stakeholders to
express their feelings and examine the root
causes of division between communities and
share tools that can be used to build
cross-cultural unity. For more info or to host
