The DC Labor FilmFest
is kicking off a brand new sub-festival, The
Whistleblower Film Series, this Thursday
night at the Capitol Visitor’s Center. Part
of a landmark, nine-year legislative effort to
restore credible whistleblower rights for
government employees, the Whistleblower Film
Series showcases free screenings of dramatic
films that explore this vital issue at a
critical time, including Thursday’s black
comedy about the development of the M2 Bradley
fighting vehicle, The Pentagon Wars, starring
Cary Elwes and Kelsey Grammer. USAF Colonel
James Burton, who Elwes’ character is based
on, will speak at the screening. The series
continues every Thursday night through October
29 when it will wrap up with the new film The
Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg
and the Pentagon Papers with an appearance by
Ellsberg and the film’s directors, Judith
Ehrlich and Rick Goldsmith. The Whistleblower
Film Series is presented by the DC Labor
FilmFest and supporters of whistleblower
protection legislation, including the Project
On Government Oversight, Public Citizen, the
Government Accountability Project, the National
Whistleblowers Center, Union of Concerned
Scientists, Bernabei & Wachtel, the Fund
for Constitutional Government, Clifford &
Garde LLP, Katz, Marshall & Banks and The
Nation Institute. - photo:
