The DC Employment
Justice Center's 2009
Annual Impact Report is now available
on the EJC’s website. “Thanks to you, we
celebrated many victories on behalf of low-wage
workers in 2009,” reports Executive Director
Melvina Ford. “We returned over $580,000 [in
stolen wages] to low-wage workers in the D.C.
metro area, conducted over 1,300 intakes at our
Workers' Rights Clinic, educated over 650
workers about their rights and responsibilities
on the job, and launched a new organizing group
called WAGE –‘Workers Advocating for
Greater Equality’ -- to provide workers with
the media skills to advocate on the issues that
affect their lives. Despite a bleak economic
forecast, with your assistance and
participation,” Ford continued, “we remain
confident of continued success on behalf of
low-wage workers in 2010.”
