Friday, March 12, 2010(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Faith Jones (l),
ACE/AFSCME Local 2250, winner of the JC Turner
Award for Outstanding Trade Unionist of the
Year, has been a stellar, visible
representative of organized labor in Prince
George’s County and in the state of Maryland.
Jones and the rest of the 2009 award-winners
will be honored at tomorrow night’s 33rd
annual Evening With Labor: email kmckirch@dclabor.org
or call 202-974-8221 to get your tickets. “As
Prince George’s County COPE Co-Chairman,
Faith has been instrumental in enhancing unity
among the public and private sector unions in
the county,” says Metro Council President Jos
Williams. “He has exhibited true solidarity
by being there, actively, for sister locals in
their times of need, no matter what the
issue.” Jones is also in Annapolis frequently
during the annual legislative sessions to
ensure that the Prince George’s County
delegation doesn’t forget the interests of
working people. “Faith has made sure his
local is an active participant in the programs
of the Community Services Agency,” notes CSA
Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. “And
despite many family sorrows within the last
year, Faith Jones has found the time and energy
to work outstandingly for families in our
area.” - photo: Faith Jones
