Broadcast Techs To Protest At NPR

Broadcast technical professionals at National Public Radio (NPR) will protest NPR’s demands for concessions and givebacks at a noontime demo today outside NPR. “The 65 members of NABET-CWA each took wage/benefits cuts of $17,000 in crisis bargaining to help NPR during the uncertain economic days last spring at the depths of the Great Recession,” reports CWA’s Carrie Biggs-Adams. “Now, in bargaining for a new contract, NPR is demanding more givebacks, a wage freeze, elimination of more than half the bargaining unit jobs, removal of bargaining rights over benefit plans, and cutting retirement plan contributions in half.” The current contract expires on March 31st, and bargaining sessions are scheduled for March 16th, and 17th. - photo courtesy "The Inquisitr"
