JUFJ's "Thinking Jewishly": Labor Seder Focuses on Safety Net

Monday, March 15, 2010

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

As the economic crisis drags on and local budgets are slashed, the ax is falling disproportionately on the working families and low-income folks who need services the most. The upcoming annual Labor Seder on April 11 will be the largest event to highlight this issue this spring, bringing together hundreds of local residents, workers, activists, clergy, and organizations for music, storytelling, discussion, reflection, and action. The outcome of the seder will reverberate throughout DC, as we help define what is at stake and take collective action to protect our community. Space is limited -- if you haven't already registered, please click here to do so now. Volunteers are also needed to help make the seder a success; to volunteer, contact Rabbi Elizabeth Richman at rabbi@jufj.org. Sponsorship opportunities are also available; click here to learn more.
