Free Screening At Film Rally For Gray

Local filmmaker –
and DC Labor Film Fest advisor -- Aviva Kempner
will co-host a “Film
Rally” for labor-endorsed mayoral
candidate Vince Gray (r) on Tuesday, September
7 at 8p at the Avalon Theatre. Kempner
will screen her award-winning documentary, The
Life and Times of Hank Greenberg, the first
openly Jewish baseball player in the major
leagues, who almost beat Babe Ruth’s homerun
record. In addition to Gray, a pitcher in his
youth – who still plays softball -- former
Washington Senator Fred Valentine and other
surprise guests will attend. Both the movie and
popcorn are free, with donations to the Gray
