Activists Poised To Expose American Water Company's Greed
Monday, June 6, 2011(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Fed up with steep rate hikes, immense
cuts to employee benefits and “big executive
pay days” at the American Water Company,
workers and community allies will rally against
the United States’ largest for-profit water
utility in Alexandria, Virginia this Thursday
to demand accountability. The action is part of
a national effort to “fight back against
demands by American Water to impose substantial
takeaways in contract negotiations and threaten
the job security of workers under local
agreements,” reports the AFL-CIO, which is
co-sponsoring the action with the Utility
Workers Union of America and SEIU Local 32BJ.
