Grocery Workers Prep for 2012 Bargaining

The 40,000 members of UFCW Local 400 are offering one and threatening the other as they prepare for bargaining next year with Giant and Safeway. The local took out a full-page ad in the June edition of Food World featuring a photo of hundreds of members “united in solidarity.” The ad promises that “We are ready to stand united in Solidarity with our employers to keep them profitable and expand their market share,” but warns that such solidarity comes only “if and when they hear our voices, treat us with respect, and share the wealth our hard work and unmatched productivity generate.” Click here for the complete story.
