4 Days Until Verizon Contract Expires

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With just four days left until their contract at Verizon expires, CWA members throughout the region continue to mobilize, with 91% voting to approve strike authorization. With Verizon’s new CEO Lowell McAdam taking over August 1, the locals were conducting an email campaign to urge him to build “a productive relationship with Verizon's unionized workforce.” Local 2336 also passed along this Thought for the Week: “Do you remember when teachers, public employees, Planned Parenthood, NPR and PBS crashed the stock market, wiped out half of our 401K’s, took trillions in taxpayer funded bailouts, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses and paid no taxes?  YEAH, ME NEITHER!”
