Postal Unions Rally Today
Tuesday, September 27, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The fate of the U.S. Postal Service is a major
national issue affecting every American, every
community, and every business. And with the
future of the Postal Service at stake, all four
postal unions – united as "Save America’s
Postal Service" -- are joining together, along
with their supporters in the labor movement,
today at 4p with rallies in every Congressional
district in the country, including a number in
the metro Washington area (click
here to locate the one nearest you). "We
need to show our support for the women and men
who work for America’s postal service," says
Metro Council President Jos Williams. "We need
to Save America’s Postal Service!" The
rallies at 4p today – including those at
Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton’s
District office, Congressman Steny Hoyer’s
office in Waldorf MD and Congresswoman Donna
Edwards’ office in Suitland MD (plus
more around the region) -- will support
legislation that would restore financial
stability to the Postal Service and oppose a
bill that would strip union rights and
essentially dismantle collective bargaining
agreements between USPS management and postal
unions. Click

on at the Postal Service. photo: Kendra
