From Freedom Plaza to the MLK Memorial

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Leaders in labor, education, civil rights, and
clergy from across the country will join Rev.
Al Sharpton and the National Action Network
(NAN), Saturday at a march and rally for jobs
and justice that connects the occupation at
Freedom Plaza to the new Martin Luther King
memorial. Starting at 10a Saturday, people will
join the occupation at Freedom Plaza for
DCVote’s “Rally for Full Democracy and
Freedom.” At 11a this group will join with
NAN, as well as leaders from across the
country, to march from the National Sylvan
Theater at 15th St. and Independence Ave. SW to
the new Martin Luther King Jr. memorial. A
consecration of the memorial ground will be led
by interfaith leaders from across the country
to “let the masses be a part of the opening
of the King memorial and stand up for jobs and
