PG County Library Workers Win Contract
Wednesday, October 26, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)After more than a year of negotiations, 250
members of UFCW 1994 have won a new contract at
the Prince George County Memorial Library
System (PGCMLS). Despite lack of funding for
pay increases, “we were able to secure a
significant amount of leave,” Josh Ardison,
UFCW Staff Representative for PGCMLS, told
Union City; workers will receive about forty
more hours of annual leave in the coming
year. UFCW 1994 President Gino Renne was
the lead negotiator for the bargaining team of
Steve Valentich, Myra Katz, Candyce Offer and
Joseph Dickson. The contract, approved
overwhelmingly by the PGCMLS Local 1994
members, was accepted unanimously by the
Library System Board. -photo of PGCMLS worker rally earlier
