CSA Urges "Give to the Max" Today
Wednesday, November 9, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“Today’s the day!” says Community
Services Agency Executive Director Kathleen
McKirchy. Give
to the Max Day, that is. Through midnight
tonight, your
contributions to CSA will not only directly
help area working families in need, but will
help CSA earn its share of $125,000 in cash
awards, including up to $25,000 for nonprofits
with the most individual donors and the most
money donated. “The region’s culture of
giving and helping others is strong, but
declines in corporate and government support
are taking their toll at a time when nonprofits
are facing overwhelming demand for their
services,” says Terri Freeman, President,
Community Foundation for the National Capital
Region. “Times are tough and local working
families are really hurting,” agrees
McKirchy. “It’s a constant struggle to keep
up with the need, but the metro Washington
labor community has always been there for each
other; it’s just basic solidarity.” Give to
the Max Day: Greater Washington was created by
online fundraiser Razoo, and organized and
supported by The Community Foundation for the
National Capital Region and United Way of the
National Capital Area.
