Walmart Workers Want a Say About Working on Thanksgiving
Wednesday, November 23, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Black
Friday has finally become Black Thanksgiving,
leaving some retail
workers with no time for turkey. “Retail
workers go above and beyond
for their customers
during the holiday season and take pride in
their work,” says the UFCW.
But with stores like Walmart pushing back
Black Friday opening times to
10 p.m. on Thanksgiving, retail workers
who don't have a union voice
on the job will be unable to sit down with
their families for Thanksgiving dinner this
year. “Retail workers and
their families deserve respect on the job
during the holidays,” says the
UFCW.

and other retail workers who are sticking
together to have a voice in their
schedules during
the holidays.
