"Take Back the Capitol" to Shut Down K Street Today
Wednesday, December 7, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The 4-day “Take Back
the Capitol” occupation continues today
as thousands swarm K Street, the lobbying
center for the world's most powerful
corporations, tracking down those responsible
for crashing the economy and causing millions
of 99%-ers to lose their jobs and homes, while
failing to pay their fair share of taxes.
Details on the "Make Wall Street Pay" were
still sketchy at presstime but there will be a
number of actions this morning directed at K
Street lobbying firms and then at noon a
shutdown of K Street is planned, with
protestors gathering at Farragut Square and
Franklin Square between 11:30 and 12 noon.
Occupy DC is joining in as well, with an action
against a lobbying firm in the morning, a K
Street block party in the middle of the day,
and a march to the White House and Supreme
Court in the evening. Click
here for the full details on Occupy DC’s
action. -
