Labor Joins Saturday Rally for Affordable Housing in DC
Friday, December 9, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The District’s affordable housing crisis is
so bad that the current amount of affordable
housing would need to be tripled just to
address existing housing needs, according to
the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and
Economic Development (CNHED). Metro
Washington Council President Jos Williams will
join CNHED for a “Housing
for All” rally at Martin Luther King
Library this Saturday. “DC’s working
families continue to be squeezed beyond the
breaking point,” says Williams. CNHED has
launched an ambitious five-year campaign to
increase the amount the District invests in
affordable housing, and Williams will join
CNHED in demanding that the DC government
invest in working families and fund programs
that make housing affordable for District
residents.
