AFGE Warns of High Cost of Gov't Shutdown
Friday, December 16, 2011
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With another possible government shutdown
looming, the American Federation of Government
Employees (AFGE), warns that the cost to
Americans could run into the hundreds of
millions of dollars, “not to mention a
restriction in services vital to the
public.” Congress’s failure to
resolve differences on the payroll tax plan and
pass a Continuing Resolution to keep the
government running could affect basic everyday
services like road, water, and meat inspection,
for example. For more updates on the government
shutdown and its possible impact on the metro
DC area, visit the AFGE website;
Union City will keep you posted on possible
demonstrations on the issue via our website,
Twitter
and/or special editions.
