DC AFL-CIO ANNOUNCES DISTRICT ENDORSEMENTS

Date: Tuesday, 7/18
Location: AFL-CIO, 815 16th St NW
Time: 10A

The Metro Washington AFL-CIO released 2006 District of Columbia primary endorsements on Tuesday, July 18, 10A at the AFL-CIO, 815 16th St NW.

“These candidates will best represent the interests of working people,” said Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO President Joslyn N. Williams. “The landscape is changing in our nation’s capital - while we have made significant progress over the last 4 years, there are still enormous challenges facing our city.  Large numbers of DC residents remain unemployed, affordable housing is impossible to find, measures of health status continue to decline, neighborhoods face crime, air and water pollution problems, and our youth have a harder and harder time making successful lives for themselves…We believe these candidates are the best suited to tackle these challenges.”

Endorsements include: Delegate to House of Representatives (At Large): ELEANOR HOLMES NORTON; Mayor: LINDA CROPP; Shadow Senator: PHILLIP PANNELL; Ward 1: JIM GRAHAM; Ward 3: PAUL STRAUSS; Ward 5: HARRY THOMAS JR.; Ward 6: TOMMY WELLS; At-Large: PHIL MENDELSON
