That was the main message AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Liz Shuler brought to the Maryland/DC AFL-CIO Convention yesterday morning. Shuler led off an all-star line-up of speakers yesterday that included Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Senator Ben Cardin and a host of prominent labor leaders. Hundreds of unionists gathered at the Maryland LIVE Casino and Hotel to strategize for the year ahead. “It is our moment,” said State AFL-CIO president Donna Edwards. “It is our fight, and it is our future.” On this week’s labor calendar, striking bus drivers continue to picket in Lorton.
