The OAG recently launched an aggressive, comprehensive effort to hold abusive employers accountable and ensure that workers receive the wages they are owed. The OAG has also launched free resources to empower workers to protect themselves, including a wage and hour log book to help workers document their pay and hours worked, as well as comprehensive information about the District’s wage and hour laws. OAG’s new worker resources are also available in Spanish. Elizabeth Falcon, Exec Dir, DC Jobs with Justice: DC Jobs with Justice is hosting a community meeting tonight focused on a local electrical subcontractor accused of wage theft. Power Design, an electrical subcontractor working on the Line Hotel, Howard University redevelopment, and other projects throughout the District, has been accused of failure to pay overtime, paying under the minimum wage, making workers labor off the clock, and misclassifying workers (read more in City Paper; linked on dclabor.org). "Companies that steal from workers should not be rewarded with building contracts!" says JWJ DC.
