Happy Valentine’s Day!
AFSCME Local 266 members stood up to their bosses last week over an on-call policy that was never negotiated with the union. Union teachers were locked out by the Department of Education last week as they tried to deliver report cards grading Betsy DeVos on her first year as Education Secretary. Among those locked out was Washington Teachers Union president Elizabeth Davis, as well as the presidents of AFT and NEA. On today's labor calendar, hospital workers – members of 1199SEIU -- will march for a contract today at George Washington University at noon, and government workers – members of AFGE -- will rally at the US Capitol, also starting at noon.
