Calling it “an outrageous attempt to divide us,” CWA last week slammed AT&T’s latest contract proposal. “‘No Jobs, No Deal’ isn’t just a slogan,” said CWA District 2-13. “It is a commitment that we have made to one another to… fight against AT&T’s relentless outsourcing of our jobs in pursuit of profit.” The union says AT&T violated the National Labor Relations Act by misleading members and “failing to bargain in good faith.” In other CWA news, the union has opened up contract negotiations with CenturyLink in Martinsville, VA (left). CWA reported earlier this month that the company is planning to cut jobs across the country, despite receiving $1.1 billion from the Trump tax cut last year. Check the CWA District 2-13 website for regular updates on both contract fights; see more CenturyLink bargaining photos here.
A new Solidarity Center video shows how workers are coming together to end gender-based violence at work. Starting May 28, workers, employers and government officials will debate a proposed International Labour Organization (ILO) regulation that would address workplace violence and harassment. Workers and their unions are championing its adoption with a strong focus on the gender dimension of violence.
