The Ascension Health Corporation plans to close Providence Hospital completely at the end of this year, reports NNU’s Steven Frum. This closure, if permitted, will end health services that have been provided by Providence Hospital to our city for over 157 years. The Caravan began in Los Angeles on August 17th, when the National TPS Alliance, in collaboration with the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) and the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) launched the “TPS Journey for Justice Caravan,” which traveled across the country, visiting over 50 cities in a span of 12 weeks. The movement to save Temporary Protected Status – a program that protects over 450,000 people from deportations – has grown in response to the Trump administration’s decision to terminate the life-saving program as part of his ongoing attacks against immigrant communities.
