Five former employees at Briggs Chaney Wireless will receive thousands in back wages after DC’s Office of the Attorney General reached a settlement with the company. “It is unacceptable for any employer to cheat workers out of hard-earned wages,” said DC Attorney General Karl Racine. “We will take action to stand up for District workers when their rights are being violated.” The former employees will receive a total of $15,609.38 in back wages and restitution and Briggs Chaney Wireless will also pay the District $5,000 to resolve wage theft claims. Briggs Chaney previously operated two MetroPCS stores in DC, but has since sold its interest in the stores and no longer operates in the District. Read more here.
