With the Maryland General Assembly session now in full swing, the Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO has identified bills that impact unions and workers. “Labor needs to show our collective strength by providing testimony on these bills,” says Secretary-Treasurer Donna S. Edwards. The State Federation will be holding a Labor Lobbyists’ meeting tonight from 5-7p (see Calendar) to review, discuss and strategize. Issues include Right to Work and an exemption law that would prevent city and county governments from passing many progressive pieces of legislation such as a higher minimum wage. See our COPE page for more details.
