Recently, Local 23 members brought board members new information about the large UNITE HERE protest against Flying Food Group in Los Angeles. Hundreds of Flying Food workers in LA marched through LA's international terminal and called on Flying Food management for a living wage, humane conditions, and respect. Flying Food workers at LA have filed a lawsuit against their employer for not paying them the airport living wage. A judgement supporting the workers case could be worth more than $15 million in back wages. “Local 23 will continue to mobilize at DC airports to encourage MWAA to protect the airport and its union catering workers from potential problems associated with Flying Food Group,” said the union.
