Six hundred Fairfax Connector workers walked out on strike yesterday, joining the bus drivers in Lorton who have been on strike for over a month. (audio: Jackson) That’s ATU Local 689 president Raymond Jackson, explaining why the Transdev workers are taking such a strong stand against the Metro contractor currently being investigated for 36 separate allegations that Transdev violated federal labor law in the workplace and in contract negotiations. Isaac Myers, a prominent organizer of African-American workers, met with other African-American laborers to form what became the Colored National Labor Union, which welcomed members of all races.
