Montgomery County pulled Russian-made liquors from their store shelves on Saturday, one day after UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO called on County Executive Marc Elrich and the Alcohol Beverage Service (ABS) to remove the Russian brands after Russia's invasion of Ukraine last week. “In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, all products produced in Russia have been removed from the County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) stores,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. "We're proud to have played a part, however small, in standing up for the people of Ukraine,” said Local 1994 President Gino Renne. “Local 1994's guiding principles include speaking up against injustice." Renne thanked Elrich and the Alcohol and Beverage Services Department “for taking swift action to support Ukraine. Together, we can get things done."
