It’s one of the biggest organizing victories since West Virginia became a Right-to-Work state, and 1199 said that “nurses are sending a resounding message to working people across West Virginia that forming a union is the best way to shift the balance of power away from corporations and toward the people.” The win came just a little over a month after the nurses notified the hospital of the intent to organize in early October. “The nurses in our community know by uniting together, we can stand up for our patients, our families, and our community,” said Joyce Gibson, Regional Director for SEIU District 1199 WV/KY/OH. |
