The Washington Teachers Union (AFT 6), in partnership with DC City Council Chair Phil Mendelson and EVERFI, a social impact educational technology company, last week announced the launch of the DC Educator Wellness Center to provide resources for educator mental health across the District. The site offers District educators “resources focused on your own mental health: from strategies for boosting resilience, to techniques for coping with stress, and language and resources for seeking help if it is needed.”

Wade Beach (piano), Steve Novosel (bass) and Nasar Abadey (drums) will be joined by saxophonist Charlie Young for this special DC LaborFest performance, made possible by the Music Performance Trust Fund and the Washington D.C. Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 161-710. Special thanks to IATSE Local 22, which is hosting the performance at their union hall.
Jacqueline Pogue Lyons (WTU 6), running unopposed for the MWC Executive Board vacancy created by Liz Davis’ untimely death, was elected by acclamation. Delegates also approved sending a letter to the Maryland Board of Public Works supporting the American Legion Bridge I-270 to I-70 Relief Plan. In addition to program and affiliate reports, there was a discussion of the labor response to the various re-opening plans being rolled out around the region.
