With less than two weeks before the Maryland State Primary election on June 26, the Metro Washington Council Committee on Political Education (COPE) is urging local union activists to help get out the labor vote. “This is a great opportunity to have a major impact in some of these critical races,” says Montgomery County/Prince George's County COPE Chair Doris Reed. Labor GOTV efforts are ongoing weekdays from 4-7p and Saturdays from 10a-3p: meet at UFCW 1994, 600 S. Frederick Ave Suite 200, Gaithersburg MD 20877; contact Amy Millar at 240-876-1660. Area unions are also encouraged to get the word out to rank and file members about which candidates are pro-worker and have been endorsed by the Metro Council; click here for details and downloadable lists. “This is an opportunity to build on labor’s political leverage in Prince George's and Montgomery County,” said Reed. For further details on labor GOTV email David Dzidzienyo at [email protected].
