The Confederation of Industrial Labor of Thailand (CILT) is calling for global labor support to monitor union busting in the Honda Motor supply chain following the firing of five employees at its automotive part supplier, Y-Tec, in Prachinburi. The company violated the Labor Relations Act by firing the five workers for trying to form a union and tried to intimidate other workers who joined the union to quit. This is the second incidence of anti-union discrimination at Y-Tec. The first occurred in 2017 when the company fired more than 30 workers for organizing. CILT represents 75,000 members from the automotive, electrical appliances, electronics, metal, petroleum, chemical, electricity generating, textiles, garment and leather sectors.
